SCG Empty Bowls 2024 – registration of interest
Portsmouth Empty Bowls project is now in its 8th year and we are aiming to generate another 100 bowls this year.
Each year members of the SCG have generously donated bowls, typically we receive between 20 and 30 via SCG.
All proceeds raised go to supporting a nominated charity, vulnerable group etc and in the past this has supported feeding the homeless or asylum seekers in Portsmouth.
Matt, SCG member and owner of Fatclay Studios in Portsmouth, is co-ordinating the making of bowls in his new studio/workshop in Southsea and will run a range of free workshops to engage the community and children.
Empty bowls is an evening where 100 people come together for a simple meal at St Simon’s Church in Southsea.
Soup is made by community supporters of Empty Bowls and the bowls made by potters and members of the community. Ticket price includes a bowl to keep with soup to eat! All sales, raffle tickets or similar and any other donations go directly to the nominated charity. A local bakery also supplies their fresh bread so that helps clean the bowls before they take them home!
Each year this has been a tremendous success with tickets selling out early.
Helen, Jo, Francheska and Vasu will act as drop off points and we will share their details once we know who is donating. That way we cover near Southampton, Winchester, Chichester, Fareham and Portsmouth. We can arrange delivery/collection mid November.
