We are delighted to be welcoming Jemma Gowland as our next in-person demonstrator.

Gemma is highly regarded in the ceramic and art world for her thought-provoking sculptures that explore how children are constrained from birth to conform to an appearance and code of behaviour, to present a perfect face, and maintain the expectations of others. The disrupted surfaces, clothed in cracked porcelain or bone china, describe the vulnerability beneath.

However, crucially, the work can also describe strength, attitude, sisterhood and resistance, the mask as disguise to fit into the world.

Tickets are £25 for members of the Southern Ceramic Group. Guests and non members are  £30 per ticket. Guests are most welcome so please do share this information with friends, family and other pottery enthusiasts!

Lunch is buffet style so please bring a contribution of food to this – do please let me know (email below) what you will be bringing so we don’t end up with too much of one type!

We will also be having a raffle with the prize being one of Jemma’s pieces. She will also be bringing some pieces for sale.
