Paul Randall
After a 45 year break, I returned to pottery during lock-down. And wondered how, for all time, I managed without.
In recent months, I have concentrated on throwing pots for indoor plants, sometimes using pots with drainage holes etc. I have found this to be good way of experimenting with forms and sizes and glazes; and even if the end result is pretty disappointing to the human eye, well, the plant is the final arbiter – is it happy in its new home? I’m now moving on to bowls and storage vessels. And then – when I’m ready – the greatest pottery challenge of all, a comfortably balanced cup and saucer.
Some of the attractive glazes you see in the photos are courtesy of my SCG chums.
