Claire Scott

I am a full-time potter and teach weekly wheel-throwing and hand-building classes in Brighton and East Sussex, as well as teaching and making work in my own studio for galleries and Artist’s Open Houses.

My ceramics journey began on my Art Foundation Course in my twenties and was rekindled in 2010 while living in the USA. Since then I have become completely smitten and have enjoyed taking masterclasses in wheel-throwing, hand-building, sculpture, glaze chemistry, reduction firing and decorative techniques, and completed the Ceramic Development program at Forest Row School of Ceramics.

A career as a Graphic Designer/Illustrator and my love of surface pattern, colour and texture often come through in my ceramics. I incorporate both wheel-thrown and hand-building techniques in my work, which can either be functional or sculptural pieces and enjoy using different types of clay and experimenting with glaze and decorating techniques.
