Sue Robbins
Sue’s passion for ceramics began with a brief workshop session at West Dene College in 2017.
Having thrown her first bowl she was hooked. Initially working with clay as a ‘ thrower” and progressing to ever larger forms and constructed objects she gradually moved to explore the creative freedom offered by handbuilding.
Working instinctively Sue now focuses on making vessels inspired by ancient artefacts and organic shapes.
Surface texture is an essential part of her work. Using a mix of clays, working the surface with tools and found objects and finally layering glazes Sue strives to create surfaces with light and shade.
