Business/Professional Name: lemp ceramics

I first discovered the magic of clay when I was very young, digging clay with my hands from the banks of a lake in Australia, creating animals and drying them out on the houseboat roof. The passion for making something with my hands and influencing its form and function is still with me and I now practice from my garden studio at the foot of the South Downs in West Sussex.
I have learned from a wide range of ceramic artists over the years and am currently studying art and contemporary craft at degree level at West Dean College.
I throw and hand build functional and sculptural pieces using a variety of stoneware clay bodies. I enjoy working on my own, playing and developing ideas based on themes and concepts that I have an emotional response to.
I take photographs and make sketches of patterns and textures which capture my interest in the world around me and these influences are seen in the varieties of form and surface decoration I use.
